Taraba Gov Inaugurates Key Committees, Commissions To Strengthen Governance

The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has inaugurated several key committees and commissions to strengthen governance and accelerate development across the state.

The agencies inaugurated include the Steering Committee of the Taraba State University of Tropical Agriculture, Science, Technology and Climate Action, Gembu, the State Sanitation Agency, the Emergency Implementation Committee for Infrastructure and Human Services, the Livestock Development Commission, and the Public Complaints and Anti-Corruption Commission.

Speaking at the event, held at the Exco Chamber of the TY Danjuma House in Jalingo, the state capital, Governor Kefas said the inauguration of the institutions marked a deliberate step toward strengthening governance and delivering the dividends of democracy to the people of Taraba State.

Dr Kefas described the appointments as a call to duty and a trust placed on the appointees, urging them to justify the confidence reposed in them.
He explained that the bodies are not ceremonial structures but instruments of change designed to address critical challenges and improve the lives of citizens.
Addressing members of the Livestock Development Commission, Governor Kefas said their responsibility is to promote peace and harmony, stressing that livestock development is key to food security, job creation, and revenue generation.

He tasked the commission to work closely with local communities, traditional rulers, and security agencies to ensure prosperity and prevent conflicts.
On the Emergency Implementation Committee for Infrastructure and Human Services, the governor said its mandate is to fast-track infrastructure development while protecting the human face of governance.
Governor Kefas also charged the leadership of the Taraba State University of Tropical Agriculture, Science, Technology and Climate Action to make the institution a centre of excellence for knowledge, innovation, and practical solutions, particularly in strengthening climate resilience and preparing the youth for the future.
Speaking on behalf of the inaugurated members, Hon Danladi Baido expressed appreciation to the Governor for the appointments, describing them as a huge responsibility.

He assured the Governor that the appointees would give their best and would not disappoint the government and people of Taraba State.
