Taraba Gov Hails Nigerian Army’s Role in Peacebuilding, Urges Loyalty to God

The Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has lauded the Nigerian Army as an institution with a long and proud history of service, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to national unity and security.
The governor made the commendation during the interdenominational church service held to mark the 2025 Nigerian Army Day Celebration at the Salvation Baptist Church in Jalingo.
Governor Kefas commended the steadfast presence and vital role of the Nigerian Army in his administration, acknowledging that their dedication has been instrumental in maintaining peace and stability across Taraba State.
He noted that the occasion was not only to celebrate the living but also to honour the memory of fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price in defense of the country.
He expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Chief of Army Staff for ensuring the event held despite existing challenges.
“The Nigerian Army has consistently demonstrated excellence, particularly the 6 Brigade here in Taraba. Their resilience and professionalism in safeguarding lives and property is highly commendable,” the governor stated.
Governor Kefas emphasized the need for spiritual anchoring, urging soldiers and citizens alike to remain loyal to God.
According to him, loyalty to God forms the foundation of strength, hope, and resilience, both for individuals and the nation.
“The loyalty of a soldier to God is the strength of the Nigerian Army,” he declared.
Earlier, the Commander of the 6 Brigade, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, urged the congregation to remember and reflect on the sacrifices of fallen heroes.
He reassured that their memories would remain cherished and acknowledged the overwhelming support of the people of Taraba State.
He also commended Governor Kefas for his administration’s unwavering support, which he said had significantly enhanced the operational efficiency of the 6 Brigade.
In a stirring sermon, the Chaplain of the 6 Brigade, Major Reverend S. Samaila, spoke on the theme “The Loyalty of a Soldier as a Catalyst for Spiritual Transformation”.
Drawing from 2 Samuel 23:13 and 2 Timothy 2:4, he emphasized that loyalty is a defining attribute of a soldier and urged members of the armed forces to remain courageous, committed, and spiritually grounded in their national service.
Rev. Isaac Sankun, the host pastor, in his welcome address, praised the Nigerian Army for its dedication to peace and security.
He also commended Governor Kefas for his consistent support for security agencies and his commitment to building a safe and unified Taraba.
