Taraba Gov Flags off Taraba Young Professionals Scheme, TYPS

The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas on Tuesday flagged off the Taraba Young Professionals Scheme, TYPS in Jauro-Yinu, Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of the State.
Taraba Young Professionals Scheme (TYPS) is an initiative of Governor Agbu Kefas aimed at building a comprehensive database of skilled professionals and artisans from Taraba State.
This database will be utilized by contractors engaged in various state government projects, ensuring that the workforce is sourced locally rather than from outside the state.
The government will mandate contractors to employ individuals from this pool as a prerequisite for securing project contracts.
TYPS is designed to provide valuable training and work experience for young professionals in Taraba, empowering them with the skills and expertise necessary to manage similar tasks independently in the future.
The program also aims to retain the state’s resources and develop local talent by involving Tarabans in the ongoing projects across the state.
Governor Agbu Kefas, in his foresight, believes that Tarabans should play a central role in the state’s development.
Through TYPS, the experience and economic benefits of these projects will remain within Taraba, promoting growth and self-reliance.
Young Professionals across the state are advised to embrace this opportunity for personal and professional advancement.
The TYPS is made up of the following professionals:
Engineers( civil, electrical, and mechanical), Architects
Surveyors Builders and Artisans among others.
Today the TYPS flaggs off The First Cohort of the “Train the Trainers program” in conjunction with the Taraba state ministry of education, marks a significant turning point in empowering youth across Taraba State with advanced skills in building technology.
This initiative is in collaboration with Hydraform, a dynamic company at the fore-front of deploying alternative building technology for sustainable communities.
Hydraform with headquarters in Johannesburg, South Africa encompasses both theoretical and hands-on aspects, covering all features of brick and block making, Paving Technology, Interlocking, Block Making Technology, Aggregate Machine operation, Machine maintenance, Soil-cement Technology, Soil Selection, Soil Sieving and Mix Design, among others.
Hydraform will provide expert trainers to guide participants through an intensive knowledge transfer process, focusing on cutting-edge construction techniques.
The trainees from the first cohort of the “Train the Trainers” program were selected from across the sixteen local government areas of Taraba State.
After completing this phase, they will, in turn, train others with the skills they have acquired, which will be applied in the construction of the Kefas Model Schools, from the foundation to completion.
During the flag-off ceremony, Mr. Abdulhamid Isa Usman, the Country Representative for Hydraform, praised Governor Agbu Kefas for his vision and initiative.
He described the initiative as the beginning of a silent revolution in Taraba State, emphasizing Hydraform’s role as a green technology that not only reduces carbon emissions but also promotes eco-friendly practices and the latest building technology.
He expressed gratitude to the Taraba State Government for their commitment and urged the Governor Agbu Kefas led administration to explore transforming the TYPS into a viable enterprise.
In his address, Governor Kefas reaffirmed his administration’s dedication to providing free, quality education, youth empowerment, and skills acquisition.
He announced that, Taraba State would prioritize the engagement of local artisans and professionals, emphasized that the skills gained by participants in the TYPS cohort one would be instrumental in constructing durable school buildings across the state’s sixteen local government areas.
These schools, he noted, will not only serve the current generation but also future generations.
Governor Kefas emphasized that his administration is not just focused on erecting physical structures but on laying a foundation for Taraba’s prosperous future, stressing that the entire construction process, from inception to completion, would be carried out by local artisans and professionals.
In addition, participants would receive training in furniture making, and all necessary resources would be provided for them to produce furniture for schools across Taraba State.
The governor urged the trainees to be diligent and attentive during their sessions.
He later toured the training facilities, inspecting machines and observing production demonstrations by the participants.
