Taraba Gov Declares State Of Emergency On Infrastructure Development, Human Services

The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas has constituted an Emergency Implementation Committee, EIC to oversee and coordinate the implementation of measures aimed at addressing the significant challenges facing the state in the area of Infrastructural development and human services.


This is contained in a Press Release signed by the Secretary to the Government of Taraba State, Chief Gebon Timothy Kataps and made available to newsmen in Jalingo, the state capital.

The opening paragraph of the Release reads, “Faced with significant challenges in Infrastructural development and provision of human services, which threaten the health, safety and welfare of Tarabans that require immediate attention and action to ensure the well-being of the people and state’s infrastructure, His Excellency, Dr Agbu Kefas, the Governor of Taraba State has approved the constitution of an Emergency Implementation Committee EIC to oversee and coordinate the implementation of all emergency measures during the state of emergency which shall remain in force for an initial period of 24 months.

The Committee is to be chaired by Hon Danladi Baido Tijo, a former Member of the House of Representatives, representing Ardo-Kola, Lau and Karim Lamido Federal Constituency.

Other members are the State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Commissioners of Health, Finance, Budge and Economic Planning, Basic Education, Water Resources, Agriculture and Food Security.

Also included in the Committee as members are the Commissioners for Energy and Economic Development, Environment and Climate Change, Works and Infrastructure, the Chairman of the State Planning Commission and the State Auditor General while the Director General of the Bureau for Public Procurement will serve as member and the Secretary.
