Taraba Gov Charges Newly Trained Marshals To “Stand as the First Line of Defense”

Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has charged 1,000 newly trained Taraba Marshal Security Guards to uphold discipline, patriotism, and unwavering loyalty as they officially completed their four-week intensive training programme.
The passing-out parade was held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Jalingo, the state capital.
Addressing the graduating personnel, Governor Kefas described them as a “new force forged by discipline and prepared for service.”

He reminded them that their uniforms carry great responsibility.
“From today, you are guardians of Taraba State,” the governor said. “Protect our communities, secure farmlands, defend our borders, and support the police and military. There must be no fear, no compromise, and no misconduct. Every action you take must honor the emblem you wear.”
Kefas emphasized that the Taraba Marshal is a strategic component of his administration’s renewed security architecture, insisting that the state will not tolerate criminality, illegal mining, or banditry.
He thanked the instructors for their work and urged the commander to maintain strict discipline within the corps. “Stand tall, move with purpose, and serve with honor,” he told the new marshals.
In his welcome address, the Commander-General of the Taraba Marshal Security Guards, CP Agyole Abeh (rtd), commended the governor for strengthening security in the state.

He said the new marshals have been physically and mentally equipped to safeguard lives and property with professionalism.
“This marks not just the end of a training program but the beginning of a renewed journey of service,” Abeh said.
“They have been trained in discipline, patriotism, loyalty to state laws, and a deep commitment to public safety. As our security challenges evolve, these operatives are now better positioned to support conventional agencies in intelligence gathering, community engagement, and rapid response to threats.”
Abeh also praised Governor Kefas, describing his leadership as “the wind beneath our wings,” and assured him of the marshals’ loyalty and dedication to a safer Taraba.
Dignitaries at the event included the Commissioner of Police, the Comptroller of Immigration, the FRSC Sector Commander, the State Director of the DSS, the Speaker of the Taraba State House of Assembly, and several traditional rulers.
Highlights of the event include inspection, march past, march out, and a tug-of-war display.
