Taraba GIS Holds Workshop For Staff

The Taraba Geographic Information Service, TAGIS, has organised a capacity-building training for its staff.
The training exercise took place at the TAGIS office Complex in Jalingo, the state capital.
The training workshop is aimed at equipping the staff with the knowledge needed to be able to use geopolitical data to carry out analysis on patterns, relationships and trends in geographical locations.
According to the Director General of TAGIS, Dr Mark Maaku Joshua, the workshop is timely and will expose the staff to rudiments of digital land administration and geospatial analysis in line with the mandate of TAGIS.
He said the significance of TAGIS to the growth and development of the state cannot be over-emphasised as its data are key in decision-making for development.
The lead consultant at the training, Mr Imoh Michael said the training is updating the participants on geospatial data analysis and management for sustainable development of Taraba State.
Participants at the workshop described it as eye opening and rich experience.
