Taraba First Lady Donates Food Items To People With Disabilities

In her continued magnanimity and motherly love for the vulnerable and less privileged in the society and the desire to put smiles on their faces, the wife of the Taraba state Governor, Mrs Agyin Agbu Kefas has presented foodstuffs to persons living with disabilities in Jalingo, the state capital.

The over 500 physically challenged persons went home with a bag of padded rice to assist them to cushion the effects of the current economic hardships.

The distribution of the foodstuffs which was done at the premises of the Office of the Wife of the Governor, Mrs Agyin Agbu Kefas on Thursday is part of activities of the Taraba Food Assistance Project in collaboration with the Agyin Kefas Care Trust Foundation geared towards tackling the economic crises among the physically challenged persons in Jalingo, the state capital.

Distributing the food items to the people with special needs, the Governor’s wife said, her office and the Agyin Kefas Care Trust Foundation is committed to the well being of physically challenged persons and the initiative is to help tackle the economic hardships in the society.

Represented by the Director, Rehabilitation in the Ministry of Social Justice and rehabilitation, Taraba State, Hajiya Fatima Ismaila Dikko, she urged the beneficiaries not to sale the items given to them but rather use it for the purpose intended.

Hajiya Fatima Dikko lauded the Governor’s wife for the initiative and kind gesture shown to people with special needs, and also called on spirited individuals and relevant stakeholders to emulate the first lady in giving back to the society.

Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, the Chairman, People living with disabilities, Ali Matudi appreciated the Governor’s wife for the kind gesture, describing it as timely and assured the Governor’s wife of their support and cooperation when needed .


He prayed God to give her and Governor Agbu Kefas the strength to pilot the affairs of the state to greater heights.
On their part, some of the beneficiaries who could not hide their feelings, said their Joy knows no bounds.

The distribution exercise witnessed different categories of people living with disabilities trooping in and out with a smiles on their faces after receiving their share.
