Taraba FA Chairman Calls for Unity Among Sports Stakeholders

The Chairman of the Taraba State Football Association (FA), Mr. Timothy Heman Magaji, has re-emphasized the need for stakeholders in the state’s sports sector to close ranks and make meaningful contributions to ensure the growth and development of sports in Taraba State.

Speaking in the wake of his reaffirmation as the validly elected FA Chairman by the Federal High Court sitting in Jalingo, Mr. Heman noted that the prolonged leadership tussle had negatively impacted sports development in the state, a situation he described as unhealthy.
He assured that his arms remain open to welcome anyone genuinely passionate about sports, particularly football, irrespective of previous differences.
Mr. Heman, who also serves as a board member of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) representing the Northeast Zone, stressed that in every legal contest, there must be a winner and a loser.
He therefore urged his supporters to avoid actions that could escalate tensions, reminding all that sports is a unifying force beyond tribe, religion, or social class.
As part of his plans to reposition sports in Taraba State, the FA Chairman pledged to convene a stakeholders’ forum where critical actors in the sports industry can deliberate on the way forward.
He emphasized that this aligns with the vision of the Taraba State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas, to revive both male and female football teams in the state.
He further called on sports lovers, enthusiasts, administrators, and athletes to work in unity and collaboration to develop sports in the state.
Mr. Heman dedicated his court victory to God Almighty and to the good people of Taraba State.
It will be recalled that the Federal High Court recently struck out a petition filed by Mr. Sanusi Mahmud, which challenged the June 12, 2023, election of Mr. Timothy Heman Magaji.
In its ruling, the court urged the aggrieved party to join hands with Mr. Heman to move football in Taraba State to greater heights.
