Taraba CJ Visits Jalingo Correctional Centre, Promises To Address Awaiting Trial Cases

The Chief Judge of Taraba State, Justice Joel Filibus Agya on Thursday paid an official visit to Jalingo Correctional Centre.

The Chief Judge said the visit was in fulfillment of the promise made to Controller General of the Nigerian Correctional Service that he will investigate the cases of those who are awaiting trial for necessary action.
Justice Joel Agya investigated why the trial of some inmates were being delayed particularly those awaiting trial, promising to take quick action that would yield fruitful results.
He ordered the Director of Public Prosecution to compile those cases that were sent to Ministry of Justice and DSS office for further investigation and speedy trial.
He stressed that some cases need urgent attention like the case of one Amina Yahya among others will be given the consideration they deserve.
He thanked the State Governor, Agbu Kefas for creating enabling environment for judiciary, the Controller General of the Correctional Service, Media houses and security personnel for the successful exercise.
Earlier, the Controller General of the Correctional Service, Murtala Muhammad Haruna charged the inmates and other youths out there to be law abiding citizens at all times.
He appreciated the State Chief Judge for his kind gesture particularly to inmates and promised to work in synergy with the judiciary.
The Chief Judge was accompanied by Magistrates judges, Upper Area Court and Area Court Judges within Jalingo Metropolis.
