Taraba CJ Urges New Notaries Public to Uphold Legal Fidelity

Justice Joel Agya, Chief Judge of Taraba State on Monday advised the newly sworn in Notaries Public to uphold honesty, impartiality and fidelity to the law in the state and across jurisdictions.

Justice Agya gave the advice at the Swearing-In of Six Notaries Public in Jalingo, the state capital.
The Chief Judge who also administered Oath of Office to the Notaries Public said the office was one of trust, integrity and global relevance.
He also urged them to contribute in strengthening legal transactions, supporting commerce, protecting the vulnerable as well as ensuring that the documentations emanating from Taraba State meet the highest standard of authenticity.
The Chief Judge, while congratulating the newly sworn in Notaries Public, urged them to see their selection by Justice Kekere Ekun, Chief Judge of Nigeria as an affirmation of their competence.
” Your selection by the Honourable Chief Judge of Nigeria is an affirmation of your competence and standing at the bar.
“Yet it is also a reminder that the public, institutions and the international community will now rely on your diligence and professional honour.
“You must therefore, conduct your duties with fairness, accuracy, confidentiality and strict compliance with the Notaries Public Act 2023 and all relevant regulations,” he said.
In his remark, Mr Martin Milkman, Chairman of the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) Taraba branch, thanked the CJN for finding six members of the branch worthy to be appointed Notaries Public.
Mr Milkman, who is also one of the appointees, gave an assurance that they would discharge their duties with upmost sense of humility and fairness.
He encouraged the members of the bar in the state to apply for the office so as to put their branch in most vantage position, adding that the appointment of the six was first if its kind in the state.
Chief Timothy Kataps, Secretary to the Government of the State was one of the Notaries Public appointee.
Others include; Martin Milkman, Nasiru Mohammed, Dauda Kura, Benson Vaatsav and Danjuma Nuhu.
