Taraba Board Chairmen, Members and Commissioners of Commissions Meet To Deliberate On Good Governance

The Forum of Board Chairmen, Members and Commissioners of Commissions in Taraba State has held its maiden meeting at the Fast Track Motel in Jalingo, the state capital.
The meeting was convened to bring the members together with a view to create the necessary awareness about their responsibilities as key implementers of the Moving Forward Agenda of Governor Agbu Kefas.
At the commencement of the meeting, the leadership of the forum which cuts across the three senatorial zones of Taraba State was unveiled.
They include Major General Habila Pannyashon Vintenaba (Rtd), as Chairman, Hon Daniel Emmanuel Angyu, Vice Chairman, Hon Apura Polycarp, Secretary, Hon Nura Dantsoho, Financial Secretary and Hon Gawan Titus as Treasurer.
Others are Hon Rashida Abdullahi, PRO 1, Hon Terna Nzamber, PRO 2, Hon Mohammed A. Jibrin, Auditor, Hon Anthony David, Organizing Secretary and Hon Augustine Joshua, Ex-Officio.
In a remark, the Organizing Secretary, Hon Anthony David explained that the leadership of the Forum was constituted based on instruction of the Special Adviser on Political Matters to Governor Agbu Kefas.

The aim is to establish a channel for easy and prompt communication between the government and the members for smooth and effective governance.
Addressing the meeting, the Chairman of the Forum, Major General Habila Pannyashon Vintenaba (Rtd),
congratulated the members for their appointments into the various positions of government by Governor Agbu Kefas the Governor, thanking the Governor for giving them the opportunity to serve the government and people of Taraba State.

“This meeting marks the beginning of our collective journey towards effectively contributing to the progress of the administration of Dr Agbu Kefas and by implication the growth and development of our dear state.
“As explained earlier by Hon Anthony David, this forum was formed at the instance of the state government.
It is to provide a veritable platform for seamless and uninterrupted communication between the Executive and the commissions and boards in the dissemination and implementation of government policies”.
The Chairman stressed that through this Forum, the policies, programmes, projects and plans of government would be easily conveyed to the people for understanding and implementation.
In addition , he said it will serve as a vehicle for driving the agenda of government and taking it to the citizens for ownership.
“Since coming on board, the leadership undertook and executed the following activities: – Submission of list of officers of the Forum and endorsement by the SA Political. -Registration of the Forum with Ministry of Cooperatives. -Obtaining of Tax Identification Number (TIN) from the Board of Internal Revenue -Opening of account with First City Monument Bank (FCMB) Jalingo Branch.
Major General Habila Vintenaba, said the idea is for the Forum to operate as a registered entity under the law of the state.
“It is now time for us to chat the way forward so that we can contribute our quota meaningfully to the growth and development of our dear state.
“I urge you all to make useful suggestions or comments that would enable us to move the Forum for Board Chairmen, Members and Commissioners of Commissions (FBMCC) forward”.
He therefore appealed to members who are yet to fill and submit their Assets Declaration Forms to the Code of Conduct Bureau to do so without further delay.
There were several observations, suggestions and contributions by the members on how best to achieve the desired objectives of the government and foster unity and understanding among the members.
In a heart touching remark, the Chairman of the Board of the Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency, RUWASSA Prince Husseini Aliyu Mafindi, condemned in strong terms, the activities of politicians and religious leaders who are always in the habit causing division among the people to achieve their selfish desires especially during elections.

He stressed that both Christians and Muslims serve one and the same God, though the approaches may differ, saying most of the families are a mixture of both religions.
He advised Tarabans to support the Governor and always emphasize issues that will promote peace and unity in the overall interest of the state.
In a vote of thanks, the Vice Chairman of the Forum, Hon Daniel Emmanuel Angyu, thanked the members for attending the meeting despite the short notice and commended a member of the Forum, Hon Bashir Jatau for making Fast Track Motel, the venue available for the meeting.

He apologized to the members to bear some of the shortcomings, promising that subsequent meetings will be better organized.
