Taraba at 34: DSK Commends Private Sector Growth, Urges More Development

Former gubernatorial aspirant, Chief David Sabo Kente, popularly known as DSK has lauded the remarkable progress recorded in Taraba State’s private sector over the past 34 years.

Speaking to journalists in Jalingo, Kente noted that the sector’s growth could not have been possible without the government’s provision of relative peace, improved security, and an enabling environment for businesses to thrive.
While acknowledging the gains, he, however, expressed concern that the state is still lagging behind in road infrastructure, stressing the need for urgent intervention in that area.
On the issue of the 2027 elections, Kente stated that he has no intention of contesting, noting that he was among those who supported the emergence of the present administration.
He urged the government to redouble efforts in delivering on its promises, as it will be assessed after its four-year tenure.
Chief Kente revealed that part of his visit to the state was to meet with his long-time political ally and former running mate in the 2015 general elections, now Deputy Governor, Alhaji Aminu Alkali.
According to him, their meeting also reassured him about Alkali’s health, confirming that the deputy governor is healthy, strong, and capable of discharging his duties.
On the performance of the North East Development Commission (NEDC), Chief Kente was critical, stating that the commission has done little or nothing for Taraba State.
He urged the state government to ensure Taraba fully benefits from the commission’s interventions.
Speaking on the Namnai Bridge project, he described the delay as unfortunate, especially with the rainy season now underway.
He called for careful assessment before construction begins but expressed optimism that the bridge would eventually be constructed.
