Taraba Assembly Swears In Hon. Abner Shittu, Passes Mortgage Bill

The Taraba State House of Assembly on Monday swore in Hon. Abner Shittu, the newly elected member representing Karim Lamido I Constituency.
At the ceremony held in the Assembly Chamber, Jalingo, Shittu took the Oath of Allegiance and the Oath of Membership of the House, in line with the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
Hon. Shittu, a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), recently won the by-election conducted by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fill the vacant seat.
His inauguration increases the APC’s presence in the state legislature.
During the sitting, the Assembly also passed the Taraba State Mortgage and Property Board Bill after its third reading.
The bill, once signed into law by the governor, will provide a framework for regulating mortgage transactions and managing property development across the state.
The Speaker, in his remarks, congratulated Hon. Shittu and urged him to provide effective representation for the people of Karim Lamido I Constituency.
He assured that the House will continue to enact laws that drive development and good governance in the state.
Speaking to journalists shortly after the swearing-in, Hon. Shittu pledged to work closely with his colleagues in the Assembly and prioritize the needs of his constituents.
He also promised to collaborate with security agencies to address security challenges in Karim Lamido Local Government Area and foster unity among the people.
