By Henry Agbu
The Taraba State Sports Commission Establishment Bill, 2025, and the Taraba State Landed Properties Protection Bill, 2025, have successfully scaled through first reading at the Taraba State House of Assembly.
The bills advanced following a motion moved by the Deputy Majority Leader, Hon. Nuhu Akila, during plenary, allowing the sponsor to formally present them before the House.
The two bills were laid before the hallowed chambers by Hon. Tanko Yusuf Abubakar, the member representing Takum I Constituency.
Upon presentation, the members adopted a voice vote in favour of the first reading, prompting the Clerk of the House, Salmuna Amos Sani, to read the short titles of the bills.
Presiding over the sitting, Deputy Speaker Haman Adama Abdullahi referred both bills to the Committee on Rules and Business for scheduling on the next legislative date.
