Taraba Assembly Members Deny Claims of Defection Inducement

Members of the Taraba State House of Assembly have denied reports making the rounds that each of the members was given 25 million naira to defect to the opposition, All Progressive Congress, APC.

The refutal is contained in a Press Statement signed by Hon. Nelson C. Len (DCN), member representing Nguroje State Constituency.

“We, the Members of the Taraba State House of Assembly, are compelled to address a malicious and baseless claim circulating in some quarters that each of us received ₦25 million to defect to the All Progressives Congress (APC). This claim is entirely false, fabricated, and an attempt to undermine our integrity and credibility as people’s representatives.

“The people of Taraba State know us to be committed public servants, driven by a sense of purpose and a deep desire to contribute to the growth and development of our beloved state. We have consistently demonstrated our dedication to the service of our constituents, and our actions are guided by the principles of transparency, accountability, and good governance.

The Statement said the members view “this malicious propaganda as an attempt to create distrust between us and our constituents, and we will not take it lightly. We are accountable to the people who elected us, and we will continue to serve with integrity, honesty, and commitment to the progress of Taraba State. We urge the public to disregard this baseless claim and to remain focused on the positive work we are doing to improve the lives of our people”.

He assured the people of Taraba State that they are committed to upholding the highest standards of integrity, transparency, and accountability, saying they will not be swayed by divisive and malicious propaganda, and will continue to work tirelessly for the betterment of our state.

“We are the people’s representatives, and we will always put the interests of our constituents above personal gain.

“We will not tolerate such statements from any individual or group, and we reserve the right to take appropriate action against anyone found to be spreading false information aimed at discrediting us. We are committed to serving Taraba State with dedication, integrity, and passion, and we will not be deterred by baseless allegations”.
