Taraba: ASCSN Holds Workshop on Industrial Harmony

The Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria Taraba State Chapter has organized a one day workshop for its members on how to enhance industrial harmony.
The workshop which was held at its Secretariat Complex opposite the College of Nursing and Midwifery Jalingo, drew participants from within the state.
Speaking at the workshop, the Taraba State Head of Civil Service, Mr Paul Tino Maigida thanked God for the opportunity to witness this year’s workshop, describing it as timely adding that when there is transformation in a union, government will have a level playing ground.
The Head of Service said the workshop will equip the union leaders with the knowledge about their rules and regulations which would help them to carry out their functions effectively.
Mr Paul Tino Maigida prayed for the success of the workshop and wished the participants good luck.

In there good will messages, the Taraba State Chairman, Trade Union Congress, TUC Prince Sule Abasu and the Controller, Federal Ministry of Labour and Productivity, Taraba state, Mallam Abubakar Sajo said as unionists, they need to be trained, refreshed and equipped with the lastest information about the union so as not lack what to say whenever they are called upon to give information about the union.
They also advised them not to disobey the rules that govern their working places, pointing that they should always maintain a good working relationship with each other.
In his presentation, Mallam Inuwa Mohammed said industrial relationship encompass the relations and interactions between employers, workers unions and the government, pointing that the aim of such relationship is to promote understanding and trust through dialogue to facilitate industrial peace that would boost organizational productivity.
Mallam Inuwa Mohammed said trade unions in Nigeria aslo fight for better living wage for workers, kick against casualization, massive retrenchment and bad economic policies of government amongst others.
Earlier in her welcome address, the Taraba State Chairperson of the Association of Senior Civil Servants of Nigeria, Mrs Paulina Gani who spoke on the rational for the workshop, thanked the Head of Service, Mr Paul Tino Maigida and other participants for gracing the occasion.
The theme of this year’s workshop is “the impact of transformational industrial relations and employee relations in Nigeria, a case study of Taraba state”.
