Taraba ALGON Chairman, initiates  construction of a modern Women Dev Centre

The Taraba State Chairman, Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Hon. (Dr.) Aminu Jauro Hassan who doubles as the Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Council, has initiated and spearheaded the construction of a state-of-the-art Women Development Center at the local government Secretariat in Jalingo the State capital.
Speaking with our Correspondent in Jalingo, Dr. Hassan, who described the project as a key initiative, said it was aimed at empowering women through skill acquisition, training, and support for small-scale enterprises.
The Jalingo local government boss, who is also the National Welfare officer, ALGON further disclosed that the initiative aligns with the State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas’ broader agenda of inclusive governance, which according to him, aims at promoting sustainable development, gender equality, and economic empowerment of Jalingo people.

He said the Women Development Center is designed to be a hub for capacity building, equipping women with the necessary skills and resources to contribute to the socio-economic development of Jalingo Local Government.
“The center, when completed will host a variety of training programs, including but not limited to vocational training, entrepreneurship and business management, financial literacy, ICT and digital skills, and agricultural development programs”, he said.
Dr. Jauro Hassan also informed that empowering women by providing them with skills and knowledge will enable them to establish small-scale businesses, improve their livelihoods, and contribute meaningfully to the local economy.
“The project which is located within the premises of the local government Secretariat when completed, will train over 5,000 women annually”,
“It is also expected to enhance the economic participation of women within Jalingo Local Government,
foster a culture of entrepreneurship and innovation among women”,
“Boost the local economy through the establishment of micro-enterprises and small-scale businesses”,
“Promote social cohesion by providing a platform for women of diverse backgrounds to engage and collaborate”, he added.
Also speaking in an interview with our Correspondent, the Personal Assistant (P.A.) to the Chairman,. Henry Milmi said, “This project marks a landmark achievement by Hon. (Dr.) Aminu Jauro Hassan.
It represents a significant investment in the future of women within the local government, paving the way for sustainable development and economic empowerment”,
“By equipping women with the tools and skills needed to succeed, the center will serve as a catalyst for change, uplifting not only the direct beneficiaries but also the wider community”,
“This initiative underscores Hon. (Dr.) Jauro’s commitment to inclusive governance and the upliftment of marginalized groups”,
“As the project moves toward completion, it is expected to become a model for similar programs across the local government, contributing to the broader goal of achieving gender equity and social progress in Jalingo Local Government in particular, and Taraba State in general.”, he added.
