Taraba ALGON boss, inaugurates new officials of LG PESMDAA

The Taraba State Chairman of Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON), Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan has inaugurated new officials of Jalingo Local Government Petroleum, Environment and Solid Minerals Degradation Awareness Association (PESMDAA).

Speaking at the Jalingo local government Secretariat, venue of the ceremony, Dr Aminu Jauro Hassan urged the new officials to discharge their duties with diligence and responsibility.
Describing PESMDAA as an association that aligns with Governor Agbu Kefas’
vision against environmental Degradation, the Chairman said the association has to do with a law, banning all illegal activities across the State.
ALGON boss, who doubles as the Executive Chairman, Jalingo local government said their emergence as new officials has created a forum for the people of the local government to add their voices and contribute towards actualizing the dreams of Governor Agbu Kefas in the fight against environmental degradation.
Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan also explained that the people of the State and Jalingo local government have benefited from Governor Kefas’ administration in terms of security, education and infrastructural developments.

In Taraba State, he posited that people now sleep with their two eyes closed because according to him, the environment is secured, all primary and secondary schools are enjoying free education while Jalingo people have benefited from all the major projects being executed by the Governor more than other local governments.
He however, enjoined all to live in peace with one another, cooperate with the governor for his administration’s success.
In a remark, the State Commissioner PESMDAA, Prince Mohammed Hassan lauded the efforts of the State Governor, Dr. Agbu Kefas and Jalingo local government Chairman, Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan for their administrations’ fight to eliminate degradation and irregularities in the petroleum, environment and solid minerals sector.
The Commissioner said the theme of the programme was, “Sensitization to eliminate degradation and irregularities in the Petroleum, Environment and Solid Minerals Sectors”.
He added that PESMDAA in Taraba underlines the shared understanding that a healthy environment is non negotiable, that the future of the communities depend on how wisely the resources were managed.
In a closing remark, the Chairman PESMDAA of Jalingo local government area, Pastor Zakariya Yohanna appreciated all the guests, said the day’s inauguration was more than a ceremony but a birth of a movement rooted in accountability, innovation, and shared responsibility for the State’s environment.
He said the discussions, connections already had were first steps towards transformative changes in the state’s petroleum, environment and solid minerals sectors.
Charging all to leave the venue with a renewed sense of duty, Yohanna said, the future we seek will not build its self, it will require our voices, our actions and our unwavering dedication to confronting environmental degradation and promoting ethical practices in the petroleum and solid minerals sectors”.
“The journey ahead demands courage, collaboration, and consistency, PESMDAA stands ready to walk this path with you. Let today’s inauguration remind us that the power to protect our resources lies not in one hand but in many hands if united”.
In an interview, Pastor Yohanna said PESMDAA as an association came on board to tackle degradation and illegal mining across all states of Nigeria.
According to him, the association was aimed at supporting  governments’ activities in education, sensitization and awareness creation to the stakeholders and people at the grass root level.
“Through the education and awareness created by PESMDAA, the rural dwellers will know how to guide their resources against illegal miners, they will also know the importance of the mineral resources that are in their domains”, he said.
