Taraba ACReSAL Launches Tree Planting Campaign at FGGC, Jalingo To Address Environmental Hazards

In its continued efforts to address environmental challenges, the Agro-Climatic Resilience in Semi-Arid Landscapes, ACReSAL in Taraba State has launched a tree planting campaign at the Federal Government Girls College in Jalingo.
The campaign was officially flagged off by Mr. Chifang Rimamkanati, Forest Management Officer of the Agency on behalf of the State Project Coordinator, Dr Clement Yakubu Giwa.
He explained that the initiative aims to collaborate with the school to promote environmental greening, saying the visit was an opportunity to showcase ACReSAL’s various activities, which positively impact communities and people’s lives.
Mr. Rimamkanati emphasized that one of ACReSAL’s main goals is to combat environmental challenges and mitigate climate change effects through afforestation.
He stressed the importance of partnering with schools to educate students about the benefits of tree planting and environmental conservation.
In her response, Mrs. Justina Favour Azekure, the Principal of FGGC Jalingo, expressed gratitude to ACReSAL for selecting their school among many in Jalingo for this project.
Represented by the Vice Principal, Mr. Ikenna Awa, she noted that planting trees will serve as windbreaks, reduce the school’s temperature and improve the environment.
She stressed that the school is committed to nurturing and caring for the seedlings and pledged full support for the initiative.
The event underscores the collective efforts of ACReSAL, the school and the government in promoting environmental sustainability through tree planting.
