As part of its Greening the Environment and Saving Lives Mandate, the Taraba ACReSAL’s has distributed life saving jackets to the Association of Boat riders at the Namnai river bank which borders two local government areas of Ardo-kola and Gassol.

Speaking during the presentation of the items, the Environmental Safeguard Officer, Alhaji Dahiru Umar who represented the Project Coordinator of Taraba ACReSAL, Dr Yakubu Clement Giwa said this is part of the efforts of the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas to safeguard lives of the citizens of the State.

He said the Governor has mandated Taraba ACReSAL’s SPMU to deliver the life jackets to the Boat Riders Association for the use of passengers when crossing the river to save lives of travellers.

He explained that when it rains, the volume of water increases hence the need for the life jackets, adding that it will alleviate the suffering the people pass through when crossing the river.

In their separate responses, the Chairman of Boat Riders Association of Gassol Local Government Area, Danjuma Mohammed and the Secretary of the Boat Riders Association in Ardo Kola Local Government Area, Auwal Yakubu, appreciated Dr Agbu Kefas for this kind gesture.

According to them, the Association had tried severally to get the life jackets for their passengers without success, commending Taraba ACReSAL for its swift response to the plight of the people.
They appealed to the government to come to their rescue and reconstruct the Namnai bridge.

They prayed God protect the Governor and bless him to do more for the state and its people.
