Taraba: 6 Brigade Inaugurates Drivers Retraining Course To Enhance Safety and Operational Readiness

As part of efforts to improve safety, discipline, and operational readiness among military drivers, the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army has inaugurated a comprehensive and an all inclusive Drivers Retraining Course.
Speaking at the Opening Ceremony of the Event, the Special Guest of Honor, the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas commended the galant efforts of the Army and other security agencies for ensuring that Tarabans now sleep with their all eyes closed.
According to him, through the steadfastness of the security agencies, the hitherto insecurity has been reduced from 95 per cent to a single digit per cent.
The Governor who was represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Barrister Timothy Gebon Kataps, stressed that in his administration’s drive to enhance effective performances of security agencies in the state, the State Government bought and distributed 110 vehicles to security agencies in the state.

He added that he has refurbished 89 service vehicles and returned them to the security agencies in the state.
While charging participants to show commitment to the training, Governor Kefas assured the Brigade of his administration’s continued support.
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Commander 6 Brigade/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa highlighted the significance of the course in reducing road incidents, promoting a culture of responsibility, and enhancing the operational efficiency of the Brigade’s transport unit.
“This retraining course is part of our ongoing commitment to safety and excellence. By equipping our drivers with these essential skills, we are not only protecting lives but also increasing the reliability and effectiveness of our operations”.
While thanking the Taraba State Government for the all time support to the Brigade, General Uwa, expressed his commitment at ensuring maintenance of all issued or donated vehicles through all possible measures.
He added that this would go a long way to save cost, lives, property and ensure longevity of the vehicles.
The Commander expressed his gratitude to the Federal Road Safety Corps Jalingo for accepting to partner with the Brigade in rendering the 2 weeks training to the participants.
General Uwa also thanked the various heads of other security agencies for contributing to the successes recorded by the Brigade.
While presenting the Course highlights, the Chief Instructor, Lieutenant Colonel Jamilu Lawal, said the training was aimed at updating the participants on basic driving ethics and practical driving in all weather conditions and terrain.
He announced that the 60 participants for the course were drawn from units under the Brigade, other security agencies within the state and from the Taraba Government House.
High point of the event was the presentation of souvenirs to the Special Guest of Honor and other invited guests.
