TAGIS Commences Data Capture in Taraba State: A New Era of Digital Land Administration

In a significant step towards modernizing land administration in Taraba State, the Taraba Geographic Information Service (TAGIS) has officially commenced data capture as part of its initiative to transition from the Bureau for Land and Survey. This move aligns with Governor Kefas’ vision of leveraging digital technology to enhance land management and administration across the state.

As of today, TAGIS has initiated the conversion of all analog land records into a comprehensive digital format, utilizing cutting-edge geospatial intelligence technology. This ambitious project aims to streamline land administration processes, improve accessibility to land records, and ensure transparency in land transactions.

The transition to TAGIS marks a pivotal moment in the evolution of land administration in Taraba State. By digitizing land records, TAGIS is not only preserving vital historical data but also enhancing the efficiency of land management services. This transformation is expected to significantly reduce the time and resources required for land transactions, making it easier for citizens to access and manage their land rights.

In conjunction with the data capture initiative, TAGIS is preparing for the recertification of all Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) in Taraba State. This critical process is scheduled to commence soon and aims to ensure that all land titles are accurate, up-to-date, and reflective of current ownership. The recertification will further bolster the integrity of land records and provide landowners with the confidence that their rights are protected.

TAGIS invites all stakeholders, including landowners, real estate professionals, and the general public, to engage with the new digital platform once it is fully operational. The agency is committed to providing training and support to ensure that all users can navigate the new system effectively.

As TAGIS embarks on this transformative journey, the agency remains focused on its mission to provide reliable, accessible, and efficient land administration services to the people of Taraba State. This initiative is not just about technology; it is about creating a more equitable and sustainable future for all residents.
