SUPPORT BUREAU TO BECOME A MODEL OF PEACE BUILDING AND CONFLICT MANAGEMENT IN THE COUNTRY – Chairman appeals to Technical Partners.

Critical stakeholders on May 20th 2025 converged in the General Conference Room of the Federal Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning, Abuja for Sector Dialogues in the framework of the Nigeria-German Bilateral Government Consultations on Peaceful and Inclusive Societies.
The Dialogues which focused on the core areas of development cooperation “Peace and Security – inclusive Societies are in preparation for the upcoming bilateral government consultations between Germany and Nigeria, scheduled for July this year.
The objective of the meeting was to present the framework for “Peace and Security for Inclusive Societies” within the context of German -Nigeria cooperation.
The platform which was also attended by the Chairman of the Taraba State Bureau for Peace and Conflict Management, Bishop Innocent Rubiruka Solomon, gave key stakeholders the opportunity to exchange ideas, share insights and Innovations, explore potential collaborations and provide input on future sector developments.
Speaking at the critical stakeholders meeting, Bishop Innocent Rubiruka Solomon extended the warm greetings and deepest respect of the Governor of Taraba State Dr Agbu Kefas to the delegates.

He expressed the highest appreciation of the Taraba State Government to The German Federal Ministry of Economic cooperation & Development (BMZ) for its innovative, pragmatic, proactive and developmental support and interventions to Agencies and Institutions in Nigeria’s North East and North Central Regions of Nigeria especially in the area of Strengthening capacities for conflict transformation and restoring livelihoods for groups in vulnerable situations.
Bishop Solomon particularly lauded their earlier engagement with Governor Agbu Kefas through the GIZ NIGERIA OFFICE IN ABUJA which further strengthened the resolve of the Taraba State Government to establish the Bureau to provide the platform and
Institutional Framework for conflict transformation in the state and suggested that the GIZ OFFICE should assist to make the Bureau a model for peace building and conflict management in the country.
He revealed that with barely three months of establishment and the far reaching decisions of the German Development cooperation through the PEACECORE II PROJECT, the Bureau is posed under the Dr Agbu Kefas’ led administration to holistically address the multifaceted conflict situations in the state with the view to creating the necessary and conducive atmosphere for development and quick progress.
The Chairman however, expressed worry that Taraba state has a growing number of IDPs arising from recurring conflicts in the state which requires urgent attention, intervention, rehabilitation and restoration.
He stressed the need for religious communities in Nigeria to contribute positively in creating the needed “Peaceful and Inclusive Societies” rather than sectarian and discriminatory tendencies, which often lead to Inter and Intra religious crisis witnessed amongst their followers.
