Southern Taraba Academics’ Forum Holds 2024 Annual Summit, Presents Meritorious Awards

The Southern Taraba Academics’ Forum (STAF) has held its 2024 Annual Summit on Saturday, June 29, 2024, where it presented meritorious awards to deserving individuals and institutions.
The Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, received the Golden Merit Award for his outstanding contributions to education in the state, including implementing free and compulsory education at primary and secondary levels, covering external examination fees, and reducing tuition fees by 50% in all tertiary institutions.
Posthumous awards were given to Late Hon. Kenneth Gbagi, Late Prof Sir Baba Tende, and Late Dr Bayero Gani for their significant contributions to the establishment and growth of the forum.
Institutional awards were presented to Taraba State University, Jalingo, Federal University, Wukari, and Kwararafa University, Wukari, for their achievements in accreditation, appointments, and infrastructure development.
Individual awards were given to academics who made significant contributions to education, promotion, and appointments, including Dr. Yakubu Ali Garjila, Professor Onisimus Shiaki, Professor Elijah Akombo, Dr. Wama E. Binga, Professor Garbunga Gary Yepela, Associate Professor Reuben Jonathan, Associate Professor David A. Agbu Esq, and Dr. Amos Danlami Gani.
The summit celebrated the achievements of academics in Southern Taraba and recognized their contributions to education and community development.
