Sensitization Workshop On Performance Management System Commences At FedPoly Bali

A two day sensitization workshop on Performance Management System, PMS began on Tuesday at the Federal Polytechnic, Bali in Taraba State.
The workshop which was organised by the Management of the institution in collaboration with the Registry Department of the Polytechnic to build staff capacity with a view to improve productivity, is designed with the aim of educating the staff on the importance and implementation of the PMS in the institution.
The event which is holding at the institution’s Executive Lecture Theatre II, was declared open by the Rector of the Polytechnic, Dr Mohammed Usman.

He stressed the need for the staff to understand the Performance Management System, PMS which replaced the Annual Performance Assessment, APA in compliance with the New Public Service Rules.
The Rector therefore urged the participants to take the workshop seriously and apply the knowledge to be gained at the end, to improve their performances.
The workshop featured presentations from experts in the field, Mr Oko Emmanuel and Mr Bikom O. Edward.

The two resource persons who are staff of the Office of the Head of Service of the Federation, took the participants through the concepts and principles of PMS, its benefits and how to implement it effectively.

The facilitators equally provided guidance on how to set performance targets, measure performance and evaluate outcomes.
The Acting Registrar of the Polytechnic, Alhaji Umar Ibrahim Baba, the Acting Bursar, Alhaji Abdulmumini Barkindo, the Acting Librarian, Mr Daniel Market and the Director of Academic planning, Dr Yahaya Tukur, Deans of Schools, Heads of Departments and the former Bursar who is now Director, Special Duties were among the dignatories who attended the workshop.

In his remarks, the Director of Academic Planning, Dr Yahaya Tukur thanked the Management, facilitators and participants, for their contributions to the success of the event.
The participants, who included academic and non-academic staff, engaged actively in the workshop, asking questions and sharing their experiences. They commended the management of the polytechnic for hosting the workshop, which they described as timely and relevant.
The two days sensitization workshop on Performance Management System is expected to enhance the productivity and efficiency of staff in the Polytechnic and ultimately contribute to the achievements of the institution’s strategic objectives.
