Return To National Values and Ethos – Bishop Tells Nigerians

The Bishop of the Crown of Life Bible Church House of David INC. Jalingo, the capital of Taraba State, Northeast Nigeria, The Rt Rev Dr Innocent Rubiruka Solomon has advocated a return to strong national values and ethos to restore the dignity, respect and leadership of Nigeria in the comity of nations.
The Bishop was speaking at the 1st Abuja Apostolic Conference held in the Federal Capital from 5th to 6th December, 2024 with the theme, “Fulfilling the Kingdom of God now, NIGERIA’S TIME OF REBIRTH”.
The Conference which drew participants from around the nation and the International community had seasoned conference speakers who shared from their wealth of experiences in ministry and in community engagement practices over the years.
Echo Express reports that various topics and discussions on thematic areas that have direct bearing on national life, formed the high points at the conference.
They include the role of the Prophets in a nation, Prayer as a tool for igniting national revival, Restoring strong family values for healthy societies, The Church and Inclusive Development and community Mobilization for national growth and the Nigerian Woman and Nation Building among others.
The conference saw the launch of a National Rebirth and Transformation Agenda with Bishop Innocent Rubiruka Solomon, tagged “THE PATRIOT” which stands on five (5) key pillars.
The pillars are Patriotism, Sacrifice, Solidarity, Vision and Faith, abbreviated PASSOVFA.
Bishop Solomon threw his weight behind President Tinubu’s Tax Reform Bills, saying it is the most innovative tax reform system since independence which provides opportunity for growth for low income earners and small businesses since the bills proposes to exempt workers earning less than one million naira a year from income tax; increase state governments’ share of the Value Added Tax, VAT to 55 per cent while the Federal Government’s share to 10 per cent; exempt small businesses with annual turn- over of N50 Million from taxes; and reduce company income tax from 30 per cent to 25 per cent for at least two years.
According to him, this is humane enough, calling on Nigerians to accept the challenge to move the nation forward by supporting the President’s innovations to reposition the economy for a robust economic growth.
