Reps Committee on NEDC Supports Commission’s Project Allocations

The House of Representatives Committee on Northeast Development Commission (NEDC) has refuted claims that the commission is favoring a specific state in the implementation of its intervention projects in the region.
The Chairman of the Committee, Usman Zannah dismissed these allegations during the committee’s oversight visit to inspect various NEDC projects in Bauchi.
He emphasized that the distribution of projects across the states underscores the commission’s collaboration with Northeastern state governments in programme formulation and implementation.
Some of the projects reviewed during the visit included the Mega Primary and Secondary School on Jos road, the rehabilitation of the Food Science and Technology Center and twin lecture theater at the Federal Polytechnic Bauchi, as well as the construction of the Department of Medical Emergency Complex and Ophthalmology Complex at ATBUTH Bauchi.
Usman Zanna who is Representing Kaga/Gubio and Maiduguri Federal Constituency of Borno State, reiterated that the committee is overseeing NEDC projects in all six states of the region, namely Bauchi, Adamawa, Gombe, Taraba, Yobe, and Borno State.
The Chairman emphasized the importance of extending infrastructure development to all local government areas in the region and urged increased collaboration between the House of Representatives and the commission to secure additional funding from international organizations such as the United Nations and other donor agencies.
Meanwhile, the NEDC Managing Director, Mohammed Goni Alkali expressed appreciation for the committee’s visit and pledged to maintain equal distribution of projects throughout the region.
