Renewed Hope Initiative: Tinubu’s Wife Empowers Women in Taraba

The wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has empowered five hundred women who are engaged in small scale businesses in Taraba State under her pet project, “the Renewed Hope Initiative”.

The empowerment programme which is in partnership with the Tony Elumelu Foundation, is aimed at reaching out to the women with a re-capitalization grant of fifty thousand naira each.

The gesture is being supported and supervised by the Wife of the Governor of Taraba State, Mrs Agyin Agbu Kefas with women beneficiaries from across the state.


The disbursement exercise was done at the conference hall of the office of the Wife of the Taraba State Governor in Jalingo, the State capital.

Disbursing the funds to the women, the Taraba State Governor’s Wife, Mrs Agyin Agbu Kefas said, the programme was aimed at promoting financial independence and supporting micro-businesses across the 36 states and the federal capital Territory.

She said the gesture was in continuation of the Renewed Hope Initiative of the First Lady of the Federal ryepublic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu aimed at assisting petty traders, especially women in Taraba State.

The Governor’s Wife recalled that the First Lady recently, gave financial support and several other support initiatives to women, youths , the elderly and vulnerable in the state to boots their respective small scale enterprises.


She commended Senator Oluremi Tinubu for her constant generosity and unwavering commitment to empowering women in Taraba State, adding that, the gesture is coming at a crucial time and will undoubtedly enhance petty businesses of women in the state.


She urged beneficiaries to utilise the funds wisely to enhance their livelihood.


The Commissioner, Ministry Women Affairs and Child Development, Mrs Mary Sinjen who was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Eric jJuyo applauded the President’s Wife and Mrs Agyin Agbu Kefas for the gesture, describing it as not just timely but visionary.


In her goodwill message, the APC Deputy National women Leader, Hajiya Zianab Ibrahim lauded the Governor’s Wife for her efforts at ensuring that the care for the less privileged in Taraba State remain her top priority, stressing that after politics is governance.

Some of the beneficiaries who visibly expressed their joy, prayed that God will endow the First Lady with knowledge and wisdom to sustain the tempo of good governance.
