Remains of late Taraba Gov’s Sister, Laid To Rest

The remains of the late Atsi Kefas, younger sister to the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu kefas have been laid to rest at the deceased ‘s compound in the ancient town of Wukari, the administrative headquarters of Wukari Local Government Area of Taraba State.
The deceased died on the 9th of December 2024 at a hospital in Abuja following gunshots as a result of an accidental discharge from a police officer said to be escorting some members of the family on a trip along the Wukari – Kente road.
Though that aspect of the report is yet to be officially confirmed by either the police or the family.
Hundreds of mourners and sympathizers from far and near, on Tuesday 17th December converged on the residence of the late Air Commodore Ibrahim Kefas compound for the funeral service to honour the life and times of Atsi Kefas.
Atsi Kefas left behind cherished memories and contributions to her society as family members, friends, and dignitaries came together to pay their respects and celebrate her life on earth.
At the service, Pastor Thomas Fachano of the Better City Church of God, Abuja shared an uplifting message, drawn from Revelation Chapter 21 verses 3 to 4.
He spoke about the inevitability of death, stressing that it transcends social status, beliefs, and background.
He reminded the gathering that while physical death is an experience by all humans, spiritual life is only through Jesus Christ who provides hope beyond the grave.
Pastor Fachano encouraged the congregation to reflect on their own lives and strive to live in alignment with God’s principles, reminding them of the importance of faith as they navigate the challenges of life.
Family and friends shared touching tributes and personal stories that highlighted the warmth and kindness of Atsi Kefas.
Available information indicates that she was born on July 10, 1980, in Wukari to Manu Kefas Atewunu and Mrs. Jummai Esther Kefas, she was acknowledged by the people as a dedicated individual who pursued her education with passion.
Atsi Kefas began her primary school at the Ebenezer Primary School and continued at Marmara Government Girls Secondary School, all in Wukari town and eventually earning a diploma in Public Administration from Taraba State Polytechnic and a Bachelor of Science Degree in Criminology and Security Studies from Kwararafa University, Wukari, one of the leading community universities in Nigeria.
At the time of her passing, she was undergoing her Master’s degree at Taraba State University in Jalingo.
Her legacy will live on in the hearts of those she touched throughout her life and the positive impact she made in her community.
