Red Cross Trains Over 10,000 N/east Women in Skills Acquisition

The Nigeria Red Cross Society, through its Mother’s Club Peer Learning Centre, has trained over 10,000 women in skills acquisition across Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states.
The training event, held on Thursday at Barwee Hotel Suites in Maiduguri, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to humanitarian efforts and community-driven empowerment, particularly in conflict-affected regions.
Speaking at the event, representative of the National President of the Nigeria Red Cross Society, Ummah Mustapha Mohammed, commended the beneficiaries for embracing the opportunity to learn new skills.
She emphasized that the initiative is designed to mitigate economic challenges faced by women in crisis-affected areas.
Also addressing the gathering, Mohammed Zannah Barma, Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Red Cross, Maiduguri Branch, highlighted that over 10,000 women from Borno, Yobe, and Adamawa states have benefited from the skills acquisition program.
He encouraged the beneficiaries to apply their newfound knowledge to improve their lives and contribute to their communities.
Representing the Borno State Governor, the Head of Service, Barrister Mallam Fannami, described the initiative as timely and pledged the government’s continued collaboration with the Nigeria Red Cross Society to support vulnerable communities.
Several beneficiaries expressed their gratitude to the organizers, promising to utilize their newly acquired skills to enhance their livelihoods and foster economic growth.
As part of the event, awards were presented to individuals who demonstrated outstanding dedication to their work and contributions to the success of the initiative.
