Chief David Pwa’ashino Calvin, the RAGOH BATTA has clocked 50 years today 4th October 2024.
Fifty years in a life time is not easy. But the most important thing is how to count God’s blessings from good health, family, wealth, faith and other bounties of life.
Another perspective is that how the Almighty God miraculously stand by your side to survive troubles, temptations, envy, hatred and other negative phenomenons.
Certainly, if you believed in him, you shall triumph over ‘them’.
RAGOH BATTA’s story is the same of that of king Solomon in the Holy Bible. In his own case, when he David Pwa’ashino Calvin asked for good health, God gave him wisdom, wealth, golden opportunities, international connections, happiness, family, fear of God, compassion, generosity, enigma of excellence, political cloud, digital knowledge, IQ, accessibility, humility, just to mention but a few since his nostalgic childhood.
Hardly, you approach David, without a smile on your face even in the face of war.
Today, people from all strata of life both from Adamawa and Jos are celebrating his successes in life.
David Pwa’ashino Calvin, called this writer and said “Bros today is my birthday. Iam 50 years old today. I even forgot to tell you since early morning because of many calls”.
In my own style as a pen-pusher, I just decided to say happy birthday this way.
Any way, enjoy reading what I wrote on him some years back;
*The saying that it is not how long but how well, has interpreted the life and times of the new RAGOH BATTA, DR. KALVIN PWA’ASHINO David.
A unionist, Business mogul, Philanthropist, entrepreneur, and a title holder from Fika Emirate within just two decades, has demonstrated that the wisdom of king Solomon cannot be tantamount to the old age of Methuselah in the Holy scripture.
He has an enigma of excellence with a flourishing human sympathy.
Kalvin’s international exposure has widening his horizons towards topical issues and realities.
His benevolence and promoting the rich cultural heritage of his people did not only attract traditional institutions but even the media because he has become the cynosure to the public.
These unparallel traits , started manifesting at his teenage age when he started ‘giving’ and rigorous participation in community building projects.

Guests from Adamawa,plateau and other parts of the country including Cameroun Republic will tomorrow Saturday, 30th of December 2023 besiege the palace of the paramount Ruler of Batta Kingdom to witness the investiture of the new RAHGOH BATTA,Dr.Kalvin David by his His Royal Majesty, the Hama Batta,Homun Alhamdu Gladstone Teneke JP, (Diyoshifoto,Tikulo Batta).
Kalvin, a title holder of ‘Mai Kakkadi’ of Jigawa District, Fika Emirate curved a niche since his nostalgic childhood having develop interest in philanthropism and human empowerment.
No wonder,his name rings a bell in every nooks and crannies of Jos, the cold-city.
DR. KALVIN DAVID was born October 4, 1974 in the metropolitan city of Jimeta – Yola, Adamawa State. The young Calvin,by then grew up with high social disposition and reorientation.Though, Calvin was fearless and brave because
he hails from Bagale,a popular Bwatiye community from Fufore Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
His life-styles were both compatible with the agrarian community and the urban city of Jimeta.
He had his primary education in Doubeli Primary School Jimeta between 1981 – 1987. He quickly proceeded to the famous General Murtala Mohammed College [GMMC] Yola, for his secondary education from 1988 – 1993. Dr. Kalvin gained admission in 1999 to the prestigious University of Maiduguri, where he was ‘made’ and obtained a Bachelor’s of Science Degree [BSc] in Geography in 2005.
The young vibrant Kalvin, was posted to Plateau State for the one-year mandatory National Youth Service [NYSC], where he served in the Industrial Training Fund [ITF] Headquarters Jos, for his primary assignment.
Dr. Kalvin started his working career with Pneusite Nigeria Limited Jos, as a Supervisor [2005 – 2007]. Upon the successful completion of his National Youth Service in 2008, he joined the services of Brooks Consolidated Investment Limited Jos, as a Manager.
He served the organization meritoriously for Seven [7] years and then resigned in 2015, to established his own company known as Kangdave Resources Ventures Limited based in Jos, Plateau State.While in the University as an undergraduate, Dr. Kalvin was elected at different times as the Financial Secretary of Bwatiye Student Union [BWASU], Unimaid Chapter, Secretary General of Adamawa State Student Union [ADSSU] Unimaid Chapter and Vice Chairman, National Fofure Student Union of the same institution.
His outstanding leadership qualities and performance pave way for him, to be elected as the Vice President of Pene Da Bwatiye, Plateau State Chapter in 2015.Dr. Kalvin is a dedicated and committed member of the Lutheran Church of Christ in Nigeria [LCCN]. He is currently a serving member of the Church Council of Elders in Jos branch. Meanwhile, he had previously served the Church in different capacities as Church Financial Secretary, Chairman Church Investment Committee, Chairman Implementation Committee and currently serving as the Chairman Church Building Project Committee.Dr. Kalvin is a proud recipient of many recognitions and awards. Some of which include;Peace of Hope Awards by Rotary International Club [2020]Award of Excellent Service to Humanity by the University of Maiduguri Alumni Association, Plateau State Chapter [2020]Recognition for Excellent Service to Church and Humanity by LCCN Church, Jos Division [2020 and 2021]Honanry Doctorate Degree in Christian Motivation [Honoris Causa] by New Dimension Seminary [2022]
It is worth mentioning that because of Dr. Kalvin’s track records of selfless service to humanity and philanthropy efforts, the Fika Emirates Council in Yobe State, conferred on him the Traditional Chieftaincy Title of ‘MAI KAKKADI OF JIGAWA DISTRICT’ of the Emirate Council in 2020.
Dr. Kalvin is a vibrant business magnet, who through the dint of hard work have established and successfully running several business enterprises, empowering many youths with jobs.
Pwa’ashino [God never sleep], by the grace of God, is currently the Chairman/CEO of Kangdave/Bagale Group of Companies. He is happily married to Mrs. Kangyang Chuwang Kalvin, and they are blessed with four [4] children; three [3] handsome boys and one [1] beautiful daughter.
