Prepaid Meters Will Be Available April Ending- YEDC

The Yola Electricity Distribution Company (YEDC) has said that the company was expecting delivery of 6,000 prepaid meters at the end of April.
Alhaji Aminu Aliyu, Regional Manager of the company in charge of Jalingo office, gave the hint on Tuesday at the YEDC/Nigeria Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC) Customer Sensitisation Engagement held in Jalingo.
Aliyu said the metres had started arriving, assuring that the metres would be distributed to four states.
She mentioned the states as Borno, Yobe, Adamawa and Taraba.
He said Taraba State was expecting over 1,000 metres upon their delivery, saying the metres would be distributed to only the customers on the company’s list.
The regional manager advised customers not to allow illegal consumers to illegally tap electricity from them.
He explained that the supply cost would reflect on the consumption device, adding that the cost would be shared among the customers consuming from the same source.
He expressed the determination of the company to supply electricity to customers with optimum satisfaction.
Aliyu commended Taraba State government for its support to their operations.
He urged customers to be committed in payment of their bills, nothing that the funds are paid back to service providers.
He further explained that the operations of the industry was being carried out in a vicious circle; from distribution to Transmission and to generation companies.
Earlier, Mr. Blessing Urang, Legal Officer of the company said that the industry was the most regulated industry in Nigeria.
Urang said their operations established customer protection services to protect the interest of customers, appealing to the public to report their maters to the customer care departments for redress.
He also advised security operatives to apprehend any staff who claimed to work with the company and would not provide any mark of identification.
His Royal Highness, Abba Tukur, Galadima of Muri commended the company for improvements in power supply.
He however requested the company to make provision for credit as telecommunication operators do. (NAN)
