Popular Taraba Entertainer, Princess Mary Ahmadu Donates Books, Dictionaries To Schools

A popular entertainer in Taraba State, Princess Mary Ahmadu has donated exercise books and dictionaries to some students and pupils in Kurmi Local Government Area of the state.
The donor, Princess Mary Ahmadu is a popular musician in Taraba State.
She explained that the books and dictionaries are part of her own contributions to support the
free education policy being championed by the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas.
The symbolic distribution of the items was made by the Chairman of Kurmi Local Government Area, Hon Moses Maihankali at the Baissa Central Secondary and Primary School.
He commended the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas for declaring a state of emergency in the education sector of the state.
He outlined some of the key components of the Governor’s free education policy, stressing the need for the maximum support of the public for the success of the programme.
The Chairman equally lauded the philanthropist for the donation, describing it as a great investments in the future of the children.
According to Hon Moses Maihankali, the children are the hope, future and leaders of tomorrow, saying education as the bedrock of the society, can remove the population from the shackles of
ignorance.
At the Ashuku primary school, the items were presented to the pupils by the village head of the community, Mr Ibrahim Samunga who thanked the donor for choosing the community as one of the beneficiaries.
While praying to God to bless and reward her, the community leader also called on other individuals to emulate the philanthropic gesture.
Other areas which equally benefitted from the donations include Kararuwa secondary and primary schools, Ambwe primary school and the Kofai Ndaforo primary school.
Speaking at the various schools, Princess Mary Ahmadu expressed her long time desire to assist the less privileged as the main reason for the gesture.
She encouraged the students and pupils to take their education seriously, saying among are potential leaders of their families, communities, state and the nation.
Several community leaders also commended Princess Mary Ahmadu for identifying with their communities through the donations.
She used the opportunity of the visits to the schools to train the children some songs on Nigeria with a view to instill the spirit of patriotism in them.
Speaking in an interview after the exercise, Princess Mary Ahmadu appealed to the Taraba State Government to employ more teachers to address the shortage being experienced in most schools especially those located in the rural communities.
Princess Mary Ahmadu who is an indigene of Kurmi Local Government Area, specifically lamented over the condition of the only school located in Kofai Ndaforo.
According to her, the school which is supposed to cater for about 300 pupils from the community has been without teachers for over 3 years, rendering the pupils idle and their future bleak.
She therefore appealed to the authority concerned to investigate the matter.
