PHCDAALGON pledges synergy with NGF for sustainability.
 
OKERAFOR ATHANATIUS, JALINGO.
The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGONhas pledged to synergize with the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) to sustain the gains already achieved in the nation’s Primary Health Care Development Agencies (PHCDAs).

The Taraba State ALGON chairman, Hon. (Dr.) Aminu Jauro Hassan stated this while speaking exclusively with our Correspondent in Jalingo shortly after his return from a fiscal responsibility commission summit held at Abuja the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Dr. Hassan who doubles as the Chairman of Jalingo local government area and national welfare officer, ALGON said he represented the National President of ALGON, Hon. Aminu Mu’azu Maifata and the Executive Chairmen of the 774 LGAs at the summit.
According to him, series of meetings were held, the first being the fiscal responsibility commission which brought about officials from EFCC, ICPC, UN, representatives from the States’ Ministries of Finance and Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) at the summit.
“The summit dwelt extensively on  critical issues bothering good governance at the local government level including security situations of the people in those areas and the need to partner with high profiled security agencies like EFCC, ICPC, among others was enforced”.
Hassan said that another meeting was at the instance of the Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF) which comprised of Governors of the 36 States of Nigeria, Commissioners of Health, representatives of the States’ Executive Secretaries of various PHCDA.
“They met with us and we discussed specifically and extensively on the way forward of the Primary Health Care Development Agencies across the Country”,
“What do we have to do to change the narratives, how will the local government autonomy sustain the gains already achieved in various health care centres”?
“I assured them that ALGON is willing and ready to sustain the gains already achieved in the nation’s PHCDA without compromising any quality of service”,
“Be rest assured that ALGON is willing and ready to support and cooperate with the 36 Governors of the federal republic of Nigeria towards making sure that the primary health care centres are greatly improved”, he said.
“The facilitators of the meetings were; the Director General (DG) of the Governors’ forum who spoke through the Director, Legal Matters, the Executive Chairman Fiscal Responsibility Commission, Barrister Victor, my humble self,  the consultant for ALGON, Dr. Ben, among others”, he added.
Dr. Aminu Jauro Hassan further used the the forum to appreciate the Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas for being supportive to his leadership as the Executive Chairman of Jalingo Local Government Area. Dr. Agbu Kefas is giving the people of the State the leadership they have been yearning for”.
He also applauded the  doggedness of the National President ALGON, Hon. Aminu Mu’azu Maifata who he addressed as being committed to the course of local government administration. “I appreciate our National President for believing in me to represent him at the above stated very very important meetings at the federal capital territory, Abuja”,
“On behalf of our National President and the 774 council chairmen across the country, we have pledged to support and cooperate with the Governors of the Federal republic of Nigeria to succeed especially in their efforts towards ensuring that primary health care delivery services across the country improves”, he said.
