Peace, Unity Key to Taraba’s Development – Gov Kefas

Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, has described peace as the foundation for the state’s development, stressing that unity among the people remains critical to sustained progress.

The governor stated this during the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Day interdenominational church service held at the Cathedral Church of Christ, Jalingo, with the theme “Valour, Sacrifice and Unity: Honouring Our Heroes.”

Governor Kefas emphasized the need for peaceful coexistence, noting that development can only thrive where unity and collective efforts are upheld.

He urged residents of the state to imbibe the culture of peace and offer prayers for leaders at all levels of authority.
He also commended the Nigerian Armed Forces for their vital role in safeguarding the nation and expressed appreciation to the President of Nigeria for personally launching the 2026 Armed Forces Remembrance Emblem.

In his remarks, the Commander, 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, said the church service was organized to honour fallen heroes who paid the ultimate price in the defence of peace and unity in Nigeria.
He noted that the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with other sister security agencies, has continued to sustain peace and security in Taraba State.

Brigadier General Uwa assured families of fallen heroes that they are not alone, adding that the Army would continue to stand by them.

He further commended Governor Kefas for his consistent support to the Nigerian Army and other security agencies operating in the state.

Speaking on the theme of unity, the officiating minister, Reverend Father Foreman Nedison, Bishop of the Anglican Communion, Jalingo, said living in peace remains the most meaningful way to honour the nation’s fallen heroes.

He described unity as working together as a team, stressing that God designed life to function through cooperation.

The Bishop urged believers to embrace unity, noting that the fallen heroes sacrificed their lives in active service so that Nigerians could live together in peace and harmony.
