NURSING MOTHER, 5 OTHERS ABDUCTED IN ADAMAWA

A nursing mother, her one-month-old infant, and five other family members were kidnapped by suspected Boko Haram insurgents in Gara-Palam, Madagali Local Government Area of Adamawa State.
The Chairman of the local government, Mr. Simon Musa Shashi, confirmed the abduction to our correspondent.
The victims have been identified as Chinda Ijuptil, Ijasini Ijuptil, Faith Ijuptil, Lidia Ijatul and Ijapari (the nursing mother) along with her one-month-old son.
A relative of the abducted nursing mother, a food vendor who spoke on condition of anonymity, described the husband’s profound trauma following the incident.
In his statement, Chairman Shashi revealed that combined security operatives have been deployed extensively, including areas bordering Borno State and Cameroon, to pursue the kidnappers.
“The security agents and the community are liaising for intelligent information gathering. These kidnappers are suspected to be in the Mandara Mountains from Madagali down to Gwoza axis,” Shashi stated.

He emphasized the need for enhanced military support, saying, “The use of the Air force is necessary to identify their hideout for necessary military action. Our security men are doing their best but the situation is becoming out of hand. We call for greater synergy and collaboration as may be provided by the Federal Government.”
Shashi added that while the State Government is providing support to security agencies, there is an urgent need to arm the trained Forest Guards without delay.
Police authorities in the state could not comment at the time of filing this report.
The Madagali axis, which borders the notorious Sambisa Forest, remains a hotspot for guerrilla attacks, killings, and abductions by Boko Haram insurgents.
