NUJ Zone E Mourns Deaths Of 6 Journalists in Gombe Auto crash

The North East Zonal Leadership of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ has extended its condolences to the National President of the Union, Alhassan Yahya and the Management of the Nigerian Television Authority, NTA over the deaths of Six Journalists who lost their lives this Monday in a motor accident.
This is contained in a Press Release signed by the Zonal Secretary, Zone E, Mallam Abubakar Musa Waziri.
“On behalf of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Zone E, we extend our heartfelt condolences to The President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Alhassan Yahaya, The Management of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA), The Government of Gombe State, The Gombe State Council of our Union, and The entire families of our departed colleagues”.
The Zone said it received with profound sadness the news of the tragic loss of the members who were traveling on their way back from Billiri to Gombe.
“This is a great loss not only to their immediate families but to the entire journalism community in Nigeria.
“We pray that Aljannatul Firdausi be their final resting place.
“May Allah grant us all the fortitude to bear this irreplaceable loss”.
Investigations by Echo Express revealed that the Journalists were on their way back to Gombe from Billiri after attending the wedding ceremony of one of their colleagues when the NUJ bus conveying them, veered off the road.
A staff of the NTA who posted the incident on a Whatsapp page, gave the names of the deceased as Manu Haruna Kwami (Manager Admin), Zarah Umar (Manager News), Isa Editor, Jibrin Musa Tabra (Retired Manager News NTA Jalingo), Aminu Driver and Adams (Startimes) while Emmanuel Akila and Steven Doddo were said to have sustained severe injuries.
