Nov 8 LG polls in Taraba: LG boss warns youths against thuggery

As the Taraba State local government council elections draw closer, youths across the 16 LGAs of the State have been warned to play safe and desist from thuggery so as not to endanger their lives.

The Executive Chairman of Gashaka local government of the State, Hon. Umar Yusuf Allurangari gave the warning Monday while interacting with journalists in Jalingo the state capital.
Allurangari told Reporters that during the PDP’s State Working Committee (SWC) recent visit on 6th August, 2025 at Serti, the administrative headquarters of the local government, some irate youths in large numbers came out to disrupt the gathering.
The chairman said, the irate youths were chanting, “we don’t want continuity, we want change”.
Looking at the concerned youths, he emphasized that they were sponsored to disrupt the ceremony.
“I want to put it to you that their sponsors are mischief makers and enemies of progress”, he said.
While describing such actions as unfortunate, the Chairman asked the parents and guardians of those concerned to call their children to order.
The Chairman said, since his two years in office as the Executive Chairman, he has initiated and executed projects that have direct bearings in the lives of the people of the local government area.
“There are completed and on-going projects across all the wards and communities of the local government area”, he said.
He further disclosed that recently, he received a letter of recommendation from the office of the Special Adviser to Governor Agbu Kefas on Inter-party Affairs where he explained that, the committee commended him on his exceptional commitment to peace building, grassroots development and inclusive governance.

“This was during the committee’s courtesy visit as part of their strategic inter Local Government tour by the office of the special Adviser on inter party affairs, led by Hon. Prince Jonah Bako, Special Adviser to Governor Agbu Kefas on Inter-party Affairs”,
“The Committee maintained that I, Hon. Allurangari possesses the leadership qualities’ administrative capacity, and people oriented disposition needed to continue to deliver democracy dividends to the people”, he said.
While thanking God that the youths did not succeed in carrying out their destructive plans of PDP tour to Serti, as led by the Party Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa, Allurangari said the speakers at the event commended his leadership and that of Governor Agbu Kefas for their efforts in restoring peace in Gashaka and Taraba respectively.
“I want to sincerely thank the PDP Chairman, Alhaji Abubakar Bawa for finding me worthy and Governor Agbu Kefas for his developmental initiatives towards developing the State”, he added.
