NORTHEAST HUNTERS ASSOCIATION COMMEND REGIONAL GOVERNORS FOR SUPPORT IN CRIME FIGHT

By Fidelis Jockthan

The Northeast Hunters Association of Nigeria has passed a vote of confidence on the six state Governors of the region for their pivotal support in the collective fight against crime and insurgency.

The Chairman of the Association, Alhaji Modibbo Usman Idris Tola, gave the special commendation during the group’s annual Congress held at its regional headquarters in Mayo-Belwa local government area of Adamawa state.

In his address, Alhaji Tola specifically praised Governors Bala Mohammed of Bauchi, Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe, Mai Mala Buni of Yobe, Babagana Zulum of Borno, Kefas Agbu of Taraba, and Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri of Adamawa for their unwavering backing.

“The six Governors have been very supportive of our operations in the Northeast in terms of vehicles and other logistics,” Tola stated.

The annual Congress serves as a platform for the association to review its yearly operations, assess challenges, and devise strategies to enhance its effectiveness in combating criminal activities.

Addressing a large gathering of hunters, the Chairman urged his members to always observe the rules of engagement and maintain close cooperation with conventional security agencies while performing their duties.

He also seized the opportunity to thank the Department of State Services (DSS) for incorporating intelligent members of the hunters’ association into its intelligence-gathering architecture.

Tola paid special tribute to members who lost their lives in the line of duty.

The Chairman revealed that a significant number of hunters from the Northeast have been deployed to assist other crisis-prone states, including Zamfara, Niger and Katsina, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Abuja.

A major highpoint of the event was the presentation of official appointment letters to members filling new strategic positions, replacing those who had died during operations.

Under the leadership of Alhaji Modibbo Usman Idris Tola, who was unanimously endorsed to lead the association following the death of his predecessor, Baba Tola, the Northeast Hunters Association has recorded significant progress in combating crime across the region, from the Lake Chad Basin to the international borders with Cameroon.
