NIPR @60: Institute offers 50 percent registration waiver to Prospective Members.

In an effort to promote friendly and healthy environment, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations NIPR has joined the national tree planting campaign towards addressing deforestation, erosion, and other effects of climate change.
This is also part of the campaign to promote a green environment and the country’s efforts to implement the Paris climate change agreement.
The President NIPR Dr Ike Neliaku, stated this at the symbolic planting of 60 trees as part of activities to commemorate the institute’s 60 years Diamond Jubilee celebration in Bauchi.
Dr Ike Neliaku represented by the Northeast Council member Alhaji Kabiru Ali Kobi said the institute is a body of professionals trained to ensure a healthy interface between organisations and the public, hence its resolve to embark on the campaign towards making the environment conducive for healthy interactions.
“As the institute clocks 69 years, we sat and thought of what to do for the people to appreciate our activities and contributions and we decided to dedicate the whole of June for our celebrations depending on the activities lined up by each state chapter. This is to identify with the people and continue to provide services that would better the lives of the populace which is why we took tree planting, and support to less privileged as our main focus for the events”, Neliaku highlights.
The State Governor Bala Muhammed who commended the institute for the initiative of planting trees and embarking on sanitation exercise as well as support to orphans and the less privileged, promised continued support in making public relations practice vibrant and acceptable in the state.
Bala Mohammed represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG Barrister Ibrahim Kashim said the ravaging effect of climate change is evident in the prevailing weather condition being experienced in recent years, hence the need for individuals and organisations to key into it towards making the environment favourable.
“It is a commendable exercise and its something that everybody should key into because everyone knows the ravaging effect of climate change to our environment, and whatever anyone does to preserve the environment is appreciated”, Bala Mohammed remarks.
In separate remarks, the State Commissioners of Environment and Education, Danlami Kawule and Dr Jamila Dahiru who are both members of the institute, appreciated NIPR for identifying with the people in its sixtieth anniversary, and called for active participation of all members in such activities.
Earlier, the Chairman NIPR Bauchi Chapter Malam Muhammad Rabiu Wada listed some of the activities lined up for the celebration to include road walk, tree planting, media parley, colloquium, and award presentation to deserving personalities who excelled in various endeavours.
“Part of the activities include visitation to correctional centres, orphanage homes, hospitals, where we intend to give out 60 gifts each to signify the thrust of the celebration, and another significant aspect of the event is the slashing of registration by fifty percent for working journalists at NTA, FRCN and AIT, owing to the fact that their CEOs/leaders have been inducted as fellows of the Institute”, Wada explains.
Malam Rabiu Wada used the medium to call on working journalists and information officers especially those working with the Nigerian Television Authority NTA and Radio Nigeria to avail themselves the opportunity of fifty percent waiver for registration by the national body.
The symbolic tree planting exercise which was conducted between CBN roundabout to Government House Bauchi was performed by personalities to include the SSG, Commissioners of Environment and Education, Police Commissioner, Officials and members of NIPR as well as Corp Members, students among others.
