On this occasion of Nigeria’s Independence Anniversary, we celebrate a true patriot, General Theophilus Yakubu Danjuma (Rtd), the Abonta of the Jukun people, who has dedicated his life to the unity, progress, and development of our great nation.

Gen T Y Danjuma (Rtd)

General Danjuma fought valiantly for the unity of Nigeria as one indivisible nation, played a pivotal role in the restoration of democracy, and generously supported the elections of leaders such as President Olusegun Obasanjo and President Muhammadu Buhari. His contributions to our political stability cannot be overstated.

Through the T.Y. Danjuma Foundation, the Abonta has demonstrated an unwavering commitment to philanthropy, with substantial contributions to humanitarian causes, education, and healthcare services across Nigeria. His passion for the welfare of others continues to transform lives and communities.

Furthermore, General Danjuma championed the cause for the creation of Taraba State. His influence and advocacy ensured that the cries, aspirations, and yearnings of the people of Wukari Division, followed by the Muri and Sardauna Divisions, were heard and realized. Taraba State stands today because of his vision and leadership.

General Danjuma, you are owed a debt of gratitude by both Nigerians and Tarabans. Your legacy of service, sacrifice, and leadership will forever be etched in the hearts of those you have inspired and uplifted.

We are immensely proud of your contributions, milestones, and accomplishments. You are indeed a father, defender, emancipator, and destiny helper. Thank you, General T.Y. Danjuma, the Abonta of the Jukun people, for all you have done for Nigeria and its people.

Tijani Sale Angyu, former Vice Chairman, Wukari Local Government Council.
