NGO Urges Govt Collaboration to End HIV/AIDS in Taraba

The Association of Civil Society Organizations, Malaria Control and Immunizations (ACOMIN), has sought government collaboration to end HIV/AIDS in Taraba State.
Alhaji Tanko Danburam, Taraba State ACOMIN Chairman, made the call during an advocacy visit to the Society for Family Health (SFH) and Taraba State AIDS Control Agency (TACA) on Tuesday.
He noted that reports from Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) working in nine local government areas of the state revealed a lack of essential commodities, including HIV/AIDS testing strips, in health facilities.
According to him, “The field staff are mandated to identify gaps in testing and linking children, adolescents, pregnant women, and lactating mothers to HIV services.”
Danburam emphasized the need for state government intervention to address the challenges facing HIV/AIDS service delivery in the state.
In their remarks, TACA’s Director of prevention and health promotion, Mr. Tsojon Paul Daniel, project lead, Lafiyan Yara project, Society for Family Health (SFH) Mr. Wilfred Yakubu both urged citizens to be resilient in ensuring quality service delivery.
They explained that donors alone cannot meet the demand for test kits and other essential commodities, stressing the need for government support.
