NGO donates #1m, relief items to Maiduguri flood victims

An Abuja based, non-governmental organisation, Being Human Foundation For The Less Privilege has donated food and non-food items worth millions of naira to support the victims of Maiduguri flood disaster.
Speaking during a sympathy visit to Governor Babagana Zulum in Maiduguri, the Executive Director (BHFLP), Khadija Kuburat Ibrahim, made donation of N1 million to the Borno State Government to support the victims.
According to her, she led a delegation to the state to sympathised with the people of Borno, Shehu of Borno and the government.
“Your Excellency, we are here to express our sympathy with what has happened to Borno State, the people and the government.
“Basically, we are here to make donations of our widows might, the sum of one million naira to support the victims,”she declared.
Responding, Governor Babagana Zulum expressed gratitude to Khadija and team, noting that it was not quantum of the donations that matter but the spirit behind it.
“We are elated by your presence, and be rest assured that the money would be spent judiciously,” he said.
She also distributed sanitary kits at Galtimari area of Jere local government area of the state to thousands of women and girls affected by the torrents of flood.
Khadija rendered psychosocial support to ease the mental health of the affected.
“Some of the items include hygiene packs containing Mosquito nets, mosquito coil, detergents, sanitary pad, and non-food items to support women and girls, it would certainly helps them to overcome the trauma of the disaster.”she said.
She urged them to remain resilient and collectively support one another with the little they have to recover from the disaster.
The victims were delighted by what they termed as swift intervention by (BHFLP) which is intended to enhance their livelihood as they return their destroyed homes.
One of the beneficiaries, Rifkatu Daniel expressed her gratitude for the swift response, expressing optimism that the support will go a long way in supporting her needs.
