My Desire is To Re-Cement The Relationship Between Our Members – Taraba SUBEB NULGE Chairman

The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Local Government Employees, NULGE, Taraba State Universal Basic Education Board, TSUBEB branch, Comrade Gabriel Abraham has expressed his desire to cement the relationship among the members of the branch. He expressed this commitment in interview with Echo Express in Jalingo, the state capital.
Echo Express: Kindly introduce yourself
Comrade Abraham: I am by name Comrade Gabriel Abraham, the branch Chairman of NULGE TSUBEB.
Echo Express: On Friday, 19th September 2025, you had a programme here in the board and a vehicle was commissioned by your union (NULGE). To whom do you ascribe this achievement and what is the reason behind it?
Comrade Abraham: As a leader, leadership is a reward from God to someone that has an accommodating heart and the best a leader can do is to leave a good legacy, and i have chosen to be a good leader.
I owe this achievement to my members and also the management of the Board led by Mrs Christian Taninga Binga, for the level playing ground given to me and my Exco members to come up with this gigantic project to ease some of the hardship faced by my members.
As for the reason behind the project, my Exco members and i discovered a problem of members finding it difficult to go for condolence visits en mass and also attend wedding celebrations of members, and so the thought of having a vehicle that belongs to us came to mind.
Importantly also, the vehicle is a means to expand the source of our income and not only to rely on the merger resources given to us by the NULGE head office, which is being used to pay the allowances of our Exco members and out of it also, a token is being given to our bereaved members and members who are marrying. So when the bus is not in use, it can be put on the road to fetch us money but strictly on hired bases.
Also, in 2024, i came up with the idea of internal savings amongst my members so that at the end of the year, they have their money given back to them. We sincerely appreciate the state Government for the prompt payment of our salaries.
Echo Express: What are your plans for your remaining tenure?
Comrade Abraham: My plan is to re-cement the relationship between members of staff, for once there is a good working relationship between us, there will be progress.
I thank the present and past leadership of TSUBEB for giving us a conducive atmosphere to operate and function without any challenge.
