Mining: Gov Kefas Receives Experts From Finland

The Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas has reiterated the commitment of his administration to develop the mining sector of the state in view of its potentials to the economic development of Taraba State.
Receiving a delegation of mining experts from Finland at the Government House in Jalingo, the state capital on Wednesday, the Governor said he will support responsible mining activities without harm to the environment but for the betterment of the lives of the people.
The mining experts who are in Taraba State to partner with the State Government for the development of the sector, have toured some sites in the state to assess the state’s mineral resources before meeting with the Governor.
The Governor recalled his visits to Finland on two occasions, saying the visit of the experts to the state was based on the areas of agreement reached between the Taraba State Government and Finland which covered education, mining, culture and other sustainable economic activities that will further sustain the bilateral relationship between the state and Finland.
Dr Agbu Kefas expressed delight that the engagement with Finland did not just stop at seeing and talking pictures but they have visited the state and also visited mineral resources sites.
The Governor urged the delegation to research and develop a comprehensive roadmap for the exploration of the state’s mineral resources.
According to him, all that the government desire is efficient, responsible and sustainable economic activities between the state and Finland.
He expressed confidence in the ability and competence of the visitors and their commitment to service, defending his choice of Finland.
He spoke of preparedness of the state government to work with the experts to bring development to the people through the best global practices without harming the environment.
The head of the delegation and the Chief Executive Officer, CEO of Mining Finland, Dr Lasse Moilanen told the Governor that they were in the state on explorative visit to mineral resources sites, assuring that they will deploy their expertise to the development of the mining sector in the state.
Dr Lasse added that they will employ technology to achive the desired results to ensure mining and that the state benefits from its natural endowments.
The Governor later presented some souvenirs to the august visitors.
