Meet Faith Emmanuel: A Determined Young Lady Washing Cars to Support Her Ailing Brother
In a society where many shy away from menial jobs, Faith Emmanuel stands out. Operating a car wash business just beside the Jolly Nyame Stadium gate in Jalingo, Faith has become a symbol of resilience and determination.
Faith, an orphan, took up the job of washing cars not for luxury, but out of necessity — to care for her younger brother who lives with sickle cell disease.
With the income she earns daily, usually between ₦5,000 and ₦6,000 depending on customer turnout, she is able to buy his medication and cater for their basic needs.
“It’s not easy,” she admits. “But the people I work with encourage me a lot, and I’ve learned so much from them.”
Her message to fellow young women is clear and firm: “Don’t depend on men to solve your problems. Be committed and get something doing. There is dignity in labour.”
Faith’s story is one of courage, hard work, and hope. She appeals to well-meaning individuals and philanthropists in Taraba State to support her business so she can continue to provide for her brother and possibly expand her hustle.
