Media aide, NUJ laud Gov Kefas for Appointing 2 Journalists into cabinetÑ

The Special Adviser to the Taraba State Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas on Media and Digital Communications, Mr Emmanuel Bello has described Dr Agbu Kefas as the most media friendly Governor in the history of the state.
The Special Adviser was reacting to the recent appointment of the Taraba state correspondents of Daily Independent Newspapers, Janet Audu Nyako and Punch, Justine Tyopuusu into his cabinet.
Bello said, “My boss has always believed in the Fourth Estate of the Realm and has continued to demonstrate his faith in the freedom of speech. By appointing two prominent members of the correspondents chapel into the cabinet, Governor Agbu Kefas is making a major statement. He is affirming his support for the media community in the state and by extension the nation.”
The Special Adviser said Dr. Kefas is a true democrat who has continued to partner with the media in bringing the dividends of democracy to the people, stressing that Dr. Kefas believes that the media is the main plank on which good governance stands on.
According to Mr Bello, the governor has continued to support the media community in Taraba state by ensuring that they get the right offices and tools for their operations.
“As I speak to you now, the governor has concluded to build a new complex for the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ). He personally visited their office in Jalingo, which has been in ruins for long. During the visit, he assured them of his desire to give them a better structure. Apart from fixing the vehicles of the Correspondents Chapel, he said he is committed to their training and other needs.”
The Special Adviser equally noted that the Governor has always encouraged the media to boldly pinpoint the pitfalls of government with all the touches of true professionalism.
In a related development, the Taraba State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists NUJ, has applauded the Governor of Taraba State, Dr Agbu Kefas over the appointment of Mr Justin Tyopuusu, a correspondent of the PUNCH newspaper and Mrs Janeth Audu Nyajo of the Daily Independent who are among the 61 persons that formed the second batch of appointments by Governor Kefas.
The NUJ, Taraba State Council, described the appointments of the two journalists as a laudable step towards building a formidable relationship with the press to attain greater heights for the good of the people of the state.
In a Statement in Jalingo, the state capital, the Chairman of the Council, Comrade Mathew Eliud Jen, commended Governor Agbu Kefas for the confidence he has continued to show in journalists practicing in the state.
The NUJ Chairman expressed confidence that Mr Justin Tyopuusu and Mrs Janeth Audu Nyajo’s expertise, experience and leadership qualities would undoubtedly enhance the performance and governance of the state.
“This appointment is a testament to your administration’s commitment to returning governance to the people and building a reliable and transparent governance for advancement of women and young men in the state.
“It is a step in the right direction, and we look forward to more inclusive decisions from your administration,”.
The NUJ Chairman however, urged Mr Justin Tyopuusu and Mrs Janeth Audu Nyajo to utilise the opportunity given them by Dr Agbu Kefas to showcase the capacity of gentlemen and women of the pen profession in leadership positions, by enhancing the realization of the five finger agenda of the administration.
Comrade Eliud Jen also urged all the new appointees to always listen to their people and work inline with the agenda of the Governor to better the lives of all the people of Taraba State.
