Manchester United Begins Defense Title on Promising Note

By Tanko Bauka

The English Premier League EPL defending champions, Manchester City FC, began the defence of the EPL title with a comfortable 2-0 win over the Stamford Bridge landlord, Chelsea FC.

Manchester City, who are aiming to retain the title for the fifth time, having won the EPL consecutively for a record four seasons in a row, inflicted a 2-0 painful defeat on Chelsea, who brought in 11 new players and a new Coach to bolster their charge for the EPL title.

The week one encounter also saw Arsenal, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Brighton Albion begin on a brighter note by winning their first match of the season.

Elsewhere, in the Spanish LA Liga, the defending champions, Real Madrid, with their star-studded squad including their new high-profile signing Kylian Mbappe, played out a one-all draw with Mallorca while their arch-rival Barcelona pip Valencia 2-1 with all two goals coming from their prolific striker Robert Lewandowski.

In the Italian Serie A, the defending champions Inter Milan were held to a two-all draw by Genoa while their city rival AC Milan fought very hard to salvage a two-all draw against Torino but it was a disappointing night for Napoli as they were beaten 3-0 by Hellas Verona, Juventus, Atalanta and Lazio also recorded victory against their opponents over the weekend.
