Manchester City mandle Manchester United in derby

By Tanko Bauka

Manchester City show steel and clinical qualities in dispatching their arch-rival and close neighbours, Manchester United, three-nil to further compound the woes of Ruben Amorim.

The technical abilities of Amorim are under severe scrutiny as many believe he doesn’t have the technical knowledge to navigate the Red Devils out of the troubling waters they are currently in, especially with their recent poor performance.

The encounter which comes at the backdrop of lackluster performance by both Manchester City and Manchester United offer the two managers the opportunity to mount a strong charge for the league title and at the end Pep Guardiola and his boys got their tactics spot on and dismantle Manchester United with three goals to nothing with two goals coming from Erling Haaland and one by Phil Foden who loves scoring against Manchester United.

With this damning result, Ruben Amorim and Manchester United need to quickly go back to the drawing board to salvage the precarious situation they find themselves in.

Liverpool FC continue their one hundred per cent record as they laboured so hard to beat stubborn Burnley through a penalty that was converted by Mohammed Salah to hand Arne Slot all three points to sit top of the league table with 12 points from four matches.
Arsenal put the painful 1-0 defeat behind them against the defending Champion Liverpool FC and put up a commanding performance against Nottingham Forest at the Emirates Stadium in London.

Martin Zubimendi scored a brace, while Viktor Gyokeres got yet another goal to take his goal tally to three goals in four matches.

Tottenham Hotspurs defeated West Ham United 3-0 to further push West Ham United manager Graham Potter closer to the exit door as the management is contemplating replacing him if results don’t improve but Chelsea suffered a major setback as they were pegged back by Brentford when they thought they had snatched all three points to end the encounter 2-2.

Wolves were beaten 1-0 by their host Newcastle United, while AFC Bournemouth defeated Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1, as Fulham picked up their first win of the season against Leeds United with a 1-0 win.
Crystal Palace and Sunderland, as well as Everton and Aston Villa, all played out a drab goalless draw.

In the Spanish La Liga, Real Madrid maintained their one hundred per cent record start to life in the league as they held on to beat Real Sociedad 2-1 after going down to ten men.

Athletic Bilbao suffered a 1-0 defeat to Deportivo Alaves while Atletico Madrid downed Villarreal 2-0 as Gatafe defeated Real Oviedo 2-0.

FC Barcelona showed class as they dispatched Valencia 6-0 while Osasuna defeated Rayo Vallacano 2-0.
In the Italian Serie A, Juventus defeated Inter Milan 4-3 in a pulsating encounter, while defending Champion Napoli continued with their impressive form with a comfortable 3-1 win against Fiorentina, as AS Roma were beaten 1-0 against Torino.

Atalanta, without Lookman Ademola, put four goals past Lacce as AC Milan pipped Bologna 1-0, while Sassuolo beat Lazio 1-0.

In the German Bundesliga, Bayern Munich won with a comfortable 5-0 demolition of Hamburger, while Borussia Dortmund, Bayer Leverkusen, Werder Bremen, FC St Pauli and Hoffenheim, as well as RB Leipzig, were all winners this weekend.
