Lamdo Gashaka Cautions Youth Against Engaging in Planned Protest

The Lamdo Gashaka, Dr Zubairu Mohammed Hammangabdo Sambo has cautioned Youths in Taraba state not to participate in the propose End Bad Governance protest slated for tomorrow 1st of August 2024 across the country.

The Lamdo Gashaka was speaking in his palace in Serti, the administrative headquarters of Gashaka local government area when he hosted the leadership of Youths in the area.

The Lamdo Gashaka said the interface with the Youth organizations became imperative as government at all levels are trying to address the demands and reasons that necessitated the call for the protest.

 

The royal father said the Taraba state Governor, Dr Agbu Kefas has implemented numerous people oriented programmes and policies that have improved the lives of the people especially the less privileged,, citing the free education policy, the purchasing and distribution of tractors to farmers to improve farming, slashing of tuition fees by half at higher institutions of learning and renovations of government dilapidated structures across the state especially in the health sector among others.

 

He said the proactive measures are in the interest of the people, the state and the country at large, saying any peaceful protest at this point in time will be hijacked by hoodlums and the end result will not be pleasant, advising the Youths to take advantage of the cordial working relationship existing between the Governor Dr Agbu Kefas and the Youths to advance meaningful ideas that will impact positively on their lives.

 

The paramount ruler admitted that there is hunger in the land but task the Youths to listen to voices of reason by prominent personalities across the country as they continue to call on them to shield the ideas of the nationwide protest and engage government in a meaningful dialogue as it looks for possible ways to leverage the situation bedeviling the country.

 

Also speaking during the interface, the Divisional Police Officer, DPO Superintendent of Police, SP Christopher Mamman educated the Youths at the meeting on the dangers of protest at this critical period in the country which he said may lead to looting, destruction of lives and property which will have a severe effects on the economy of the country, appealing to them to shun the protest in their own interest and that of the generation yet unborn.

 

According to him, governments are doing everything within their powers to make life meaningful for its citizens, warning that no government will sit and watch its good interventions being destroy by bad elements in the society.

Also in his remarks, the Youths leader in Gashaka local government area, Sarkin Matasa, Alhaji Salisu Ali thanked the royal father for the laudable initiative in engaging the youths, commending him of his fatherly role which he said has kept the area peaceful for lives and businesses to thrive.

 

He assured the royal father that though life is tough for the people as it has become difficult for most of the people to feed themselves talk less of their families but they will not participate or join the propose peaceful protest, calling on government to do the needful by rising up to their statutory responsibilities of making life meaningful for its citizenry.
